My name is NUR FADHILAH ELYANA BINTI ARIFFIN. I am 18 years old. I am student who currently study at UITM ALOR GAJAH, MELAKA. Now I’m just being one of the undergraduate in diploma in Banking(BA119). One of the most important purpose I’m doing this portfolio is to introduce the students about UED102 or well know with soft skills. UED102 provides students with learning skills essential for varsity life, which should be within each students.

MODULE 1

LEARNING STYLE INVENTORY

👉 Making the moves from being in school is not an easy task. Student need to make new friends at the new place. Student also need to stay in hostel for semester 1 and part with the family. There also many new things student need to know and adapt with the university life.

characteristics of Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic Modes

🐾Visual learners need to see information. If your preferred style is visual, you have strong visualization skills and can remember objects, shapes, and pictures. You learn by reading and by watching films, videos and demonstrations. You can see pictures in your mind.

🐾Auditory learners need to hear information. If your preferred style is auditory, you have a “good ear” and can hear differences in tones and rhythm. Reading out loud will be beneficial. You can remember what you hear in a lecture.

🐾Kinesthetic learners need to be physically active and doing things. If your preferred style is Kinesthetic,you are a hands-on learners. You have good coordination and learn by doing. You generally have an active What is approach to learning.

⚠My highest score is visual style. So I’m a visual style and my way of learning is also more visual style.

VISUAL STYLE

↪create mind maps, flow charts and diagrams using bright colours. Put them where you can view them frequently.

↪practice building your visual memory.

↪rewrite your notes using different colours.

KINESTHETIC LEARNERS

↪use your hand. Cut up charts and diagrams. Create flash cards and move them around with large, sweeping movements.

↪walk and talk the information. Recite as you move.

↪type on a computer keyboard. You are using your muscle memory.

AUDITORY LEARNERS

↪after you read a page in your textbook, summarise the information out loud in your own words.

↪tape your instructor’s lecture,and if you are a commuter,listen to the tape on the way home, either in your car, or on the bus or subway.

↪discuss the material that you have been learning with a friend or study group.

🐾Last but not least my additional ways that I usually use when I study is:

✔like a clean and comfortable environment.

✔quiet and calm conditions.

✔make small notes and mind maps for all important notes especially for the subjects that are difficult for me to understand.

✔study with a partner or in a group to discuss the information or subject.

✔make own strategies.

10 STEP COLLEGE SUCCESS:

1)Attend all classes

↪one of the best ways to successful in the college is to attend classes. This is important because most of the test question will come from lecturer.

2)Become an active learner

↪we cannot just read the book or notes couple of time but we must write and recite the information to get it into long-term memory.

3)Participate in class

↪be an active person in class such as give the feedback about the subject that being taught and ask the question to the lecturer.

4)Get to know your lecturer

↪as students, we should know who our lecturers especially their names.

5)Form study group with friends

↪this is one of the good strategies to success in college. Students can remember the points easier and can make the discussion with friends easily.

6)be receptive to change

↪do some change in our study strategies. It’s could be better to do some change if not we can’t never see how our performance being.

7)Stay up to date with your work

↪we should never procrastinated out work. So we can catch up other things and always stay up to date.

8)Work hard in every semester

↪it’s important to us to always set in our mind to the our best and work hard to something that we want to archive.

9)Exercise and maintain health

↪according to scientist survey, exercise such as running and so on can benefit the brain. This can be one of the ways to relax the mind after all day long learning.

10)Prayer

↪we as Muslim’s must always maintain the relationship with Allah S. W. T. that is by keeping the prayers and performing charity and praying that the acquired knowledge be blessed and can be a successful student.

✂Properly set goals can be incredibly motivating and as you get into the habit of setting and achieving goals, you will find yourself confidence build fast.

SPECIFIC GOALS

🎓Your goal must be clear and well definied. Make it as easy as you can get where you want to go by defining precisely where you want to end up. You need goals to show you the way.

MEASURABLE GOALS

🎓Your goals can measure your degree of success include precise amounts, dates and so on. Without a way to measure your success ,you will miss out on the celebration that comes without knowing you have actually achieved something.

ATTAINABLE GOALS

🎓If you set a goal that you have no hope of achieving, you will only demoralise yourself and erode your confidence. So, make sure it’s possible to achieve the goals you set.

RELEVANT GOALS

🎓Goals should be relevant to the direction you want your life and career to take. By keeping goals aligned with this, you will develop the focus you need to get ahead and inconsistent goals, and you will fritter your time and your life away.

TIME-BOUND GOALS

🎓Your goals must have a deadline. This means that you know when you can celebrate success. When you are working on a deadline ,your sense of urgency increases and achievement will come that much quicker.

LONG-TERM AND SHORT-TERM GOALS

⚫Long-term goals is the objective of the goals that you set end of the year for yourself for four or five years from now,or even for a lifetime.

⚫Short-term goals we can set for an hour from now, end of day or semester.

⚫ACADEMIC GOALS IS something that related with our works. Such as for students, we must completing assignment and preparing for exam.

1) Sensory memory

⛄ numerous incoming information form 5 sense will be stored in sensory memory for an instant.

2) Short-term memory

⛄ our short term memory have only limited storage. The information must be repeated in order to get information to long-term memory.

3) Long-term memory

⛄ our long term memory is unlimited and have large storage. If the information is not being used for long term time, the information will be lost.

READING TEXT

Survey 👉 review the text to gain initial meaning from the tittle, subtittle or chapter introduction.

Question 👉 build a question while reading, so that our mind will always looking for answer.

Read 👉 read the paragraph for the information and find the answer for the question that have been formed.

Recite 👉 answer the question that you formulated. Recite the answer on your own word without looking at the text.

Review 👉 look over your answer and the text. Ask what your text mostly about and recalling the question again. Recheck it until you gain the answer again.
